The Vega cards are a pretty good deal these days especially considering how expensive the newer Nvidia RTX cards are and how the pricing on the new AMD Radeon RX5700's is going to be. A good Vega 64 should last you quite a while I would think.

I agree with Lu.  I am now waiting for the Navi cards to release and I am upgrading to that.

It's going to be interesting when those navi (5700 & 5700xt) cards come out. I think a lot of people were a little disappointed with the pricing that AMD has come up with because of how expensive newer nvidia cards have been. But for $450 for the 5700xt that is supposed to beat the RTX2070 with a new architecture and is really there to replace their vega 56/64 lineup, I think they will end up being pretty good. Then the cards that come out after that will just keep getting better .

Which card are you using Lu?  I was hoping the pricing would be a little bit lower.  My new 49" Dell Ultrasharp monitor comes in tomorrow.  It has a resolution of 5120x1440 and I am a little worried my 580 might have a hard time pushing that many pixels at 60fps at high settings and that resolution.  I might have to either back down the settings or put the resolution down to 2560x1440 to keep everything running smooth.  Tomorrow will be an exciting day!!!

I'm just using a small GTX 1060 3GB card which works just fine for 1080p 60Hz gaming. Yeah that might be a bit much for a RX 580 to handle. It'll be interesting to see how well it runs it. I'm interested to see how the 5700 series ends up being. You might want to wait until (I think it's early July when those cards launch) the reviews start coming out to see what to do. I'm wondering if maybe the Radeon 7 might be the card to go with especially if you want to go high settings/60Hz at that high of a resolution. I'm assuming that monitor has freesync and stuff like that right?

Yes it does.  It is arriving today.  I just checked and it says it is on the FedEx truck out for delivery!!!  It also lists the weight of the box at 60 pounds!!!

OMG.  It is here and I hooked it up.  It is soooooooooo big.  I am not sure how I am supposed to use it.  I ran MWO at 5120x1440 and I needed to turn it down to medium to get a solid 60fps. 

This is going to take some getting used to.  I was used to having my 3 monitors and having them angled so I could see the three screens.  Now with this screen it is a gentle curve and it is so weird.

I also have 4 sticks of 4GB DDR3 1200 240 pin ram dimms (16GB total) that came out of my upgraded server if anyone needs that.

I am starting to get used to the new monitor.  It definitely is taking a bit of adjusting to get used to it.  For the last 10 years I have had triple screens but they have always been straight screens and I would angle it to fit on my desk. 

I am now playing MWO at night with the new monitor at 5120x1440 resolution.  No mech can sneak up on me from the side.  I can see through the edges of the cockpit windows!!!  Stealth fleas are going splat from my LBXs!!!!
