General Discussion / Forced to take a short break« on: December 02, 2015, 03:06:47 PM »
I won't be doing any online gaming for the next week or so.
My video card has gotten pretty bad and it's cutting out more often now. It's become so unreliable that I am deciding not to game online until I get a new card. I don't want to have it cutting out during games and leaving you all one short. I think it's a heat issue. I used the new Catalyst software to bump up the fan speed, and I can hear how much louder it is. I can't remember ever hearing it ramp up on it's own under heavy load, like it is supposed to. I think my fan controllers in that card have always been bad, and the fans weren't speeding up when the card got hot. This means my video card has been cooking while I game for the 3 years I have had it. If this really the case, I'm actually surprised it lasted this long. I ordered a new card, but it will probably be a week or more before it gets here. I'm not going to play MWO until I have the new card up and running, so I thought I would let you all know. 3

General Discussion / Fun with the new mechlab« on: August 05, 2015, 03:06:44 PM »
Since, as I quickly expected, the new "dynamic mech portraits" are just screenshots taken when you save a mech; they can be edited.
http://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/205496-mech-portrait-mayhem/ Just go to this folder: "C:\Users\*username*\Saved Games\MechWarrior Online\UI\MechIcons" and change the .PNG files to any image you want. You too can have a customized mechlab! I don't see PGI having any issues with us doing this, since no one else can see it and it wouldn't give you any advantages in game. 5
General Discussion / Re: Recruiting Page (smaga read)« on: August 01, 2015, 01:21:44 PM »
I'm just glad to see he's been a Michael Jackson impersonator since at least 1992.
At first I thought he just started doing that recently, and it would be in very bad taste if he started just after he died. But anyways, I apologize for contributing to the forum crime of thread derailment. I wonder if Corey plays video games? We should try to recruit him! I'm not surprised thousands of spam bots get blocked by our forum registration question. I'm a volunteer forum mod on the forums for another game which has open registration. I pretty much have to ban someone every time I log in there. Those bots can create hundreds of threads in a pretty short amount of time and make it hard to find any new forum posts that aren't spam. I guess they think I am doing a good job over there because they gave me the forum title "Spambot Executioner". 6

I tried to play MWLL, but I could never figure out how to join a server and start playing.
I found it too complicated. 9
General Discussion / Re: another sad day - rip Chris Squire« on: June 29, 2015, 11:59:57 AM »
This is freaky.
A few days before he died I was listening to the "Yes: Fragile" Audio DVD a friend of mine gave me a couple of years ago. http://www.amazon.com/Fragile-Yes/dp/B004YKB50Q They only made those for a few short years, and I was curious to see if it was worth any money; so I looked it up. It has indeed gone up in value and they are selling for $42 right now. It makes me sad to read Squire has died. I grew up listening to Yes and I am a bass player myself. He was one of my early inspirations and in my opinion one of the best musicians of all time. Chris will surely be missed, but we can take some comfort in knowing we still have his music to listen to. I will make sure to be listening to Yes the next time I play MWO. 10
General Discussion / Re: So a foot of water in your house isn't exactly vomiting blood but it still sucks« on: June 23, 2015, 01:21:41 PM »
I lived in Texas from 90-92, near Dallas. One thing I remember from my college days there is that when it rained in Texas, it really rained. Even back then there was flooding after every big rainstorm.
I saw on the news how bad it was this year. Seeing it on TV is one thing, but when it happens to someone you know; it has more of an impact. The important thing to focus on is that you, and your family are ok. Stuff is just stuff. Most of it can be replaced, but you can't put a price on life. I'm glad you told us where you have been, it's good to know you're still around. Just hang in there and know the worst is over and things will get better. 11

General Discussion / Re: I'm moving« on: May 03, 2015, 09:23:50 PM »
It was my bother in law's father that died. His wife died a few months ago and they were very close. I think he is happier now that he gets to be with her again.
I'm in Abingdon Virginia right now. My oldest sister, older brother, and niece all live in Florida; not far from Winter Park. My cousin and his family live about 2 hours away in Bradenton. I'm my own boss, so the job isn't really an issue other than building up a new client base. I will be saving over $200 a month living there, it's almost twice the size of the place I am in now, and also furnished. It should be no problem getting by until I have a steady source of income again. 15
General Discussion / I'm moving« on: May 03, 2015, 03:33:36 PM »
Due to a death in the extended family, a paid off house in Winter Park Florida has recently become available. My siblings decided that they want me to move there.
I will probably not actually move until early June, but I will spend the rest of this month packing and getting ready. I won't have time to be in game as much as I used to. When I actually move in late May or early June, I will most likely be offline completely for a little while. Just wanted to let you guys know. Lexx
