don't forget that we became known for throwing BBQs on hot planet's  :D I know I was a late addition to the crew but I felt like I contributed a lot to the win percentage.

Welcome to the BP BBQ, Striders, Marauders full of FLamers, Heat sinks, LBX20s and Arty beacons. Next target? LOL Fun times

Ninja I was just listing (as best I can recall) the few Founding Members of BP that are still around. You joined us probably within2 weeks of the inception (if I recall). No doubt you added to the win %. Many pilots passed though these 'virtual doors' but the core group is still here, including yourself. Just because you are unable to play (currently) does NOT mean you are not part of us. The 'Door' is always open to you and your chair at the round table is still reserved. When i get asked about you, I say "Ninja is away on 'business' ".

Damn, I still remember the first time we heard you on comms. Something like 2 months in practice 2 nights a week and drops 2 nights a week, nothing but silence. Then one night he spoke.... lol! "I would like the Catapult". Cow and I were like "who said that?" LOL

1st one

BP_Nebula.jpg

There is a story behind the photo.

It is an actual NASA photo that was taken with the Hubble Telescope.

In the days after the mass exodus from St Ives Compact (NBT League) and the scurry to find other teams or form one of our own, a few of us decided to form our own group.

In those days, Smaga, CowCrusher and a gent named Pirate were our team commanders. Some of us had a conference on Team speak with some of the former members of SIC to decide what to do. Many of the guys joined one of our allies, FS (at the time was a pretty good unit and no aholes like todays group).

However there were conflicts on who would run what and so on, so those 3 I named decided to form our team. The ONLY opening in the league at that time were a Clan Unit (and the Clans voted against adding another clan unit but we really didnt want to be Clan) and a Pirate unit that had been abandoned.

It was already named "The Blood Pearls" by the previous group, who left us with near nothing, no money and a dismal 27% win percentage.  Yes 27%.

We took a vote on comms and those that wanted to join FS could do so and were welcome with us at any time. From that we formed The Blood Pearls. I seachfu was pretty good in those days and when i got the news that we would form a team and the name of it, I did a search and found those images on the NASA sight.

We gelled well and over the course of our NBT career, until the league shut down for HardCore, we took that miserable 27% WIN (which we had to keep) and turned it into an 87% win at league shut down. And it wasnt like the team before us loss like 5 of 8 games, they had played some 400 drops.

Yeah, we won a lot. yeah we did good. At league shut down we had more CBills than ANY CLAN and more the 2/3's of the MAJOR Houses. We had the max amount of Planets a Pirate could own without becoming a House Unit (in fact DP had to raise the amount from 6 to 8 when we won 2 Planetary Assaults that everyone thought we would lose) and we had our OWN CLAN mech Factory building Ares and Thors...  and we did most all this with about 12 squad members (give or take a couple).

How MANY times do we have to tell you?

NO RUNNING on the boat. You could easily slip and slide right off the deck into the ocean causing another huge tsunami.

Take your time, the food will be there...

i made my cover in a trophy shop !
i will post pics soon !

Reasonable $ ?

I found a real one from a 1984 model that had been destroyed in a warehouse in NAshville during some of the flooding that happened last year or so. The guy had his guitars insured (he was /is a collector) and some 30 different Les Pauls and 15 Strats (all collector models, lowest valued at 5.7k$) were either heavily damaged or destroyed in the flooding.

He wanted 120$ for that piece. Gruhns Shop in Nashville want 85$.

A Blank GIBSON plate (with the Gibson name on it and their little design) was 22$. Engraving to get what YOU needed was 4$ per 5 letters plus a 1 time set up fee of 12$. So 34$ for just a REAL Gibson Plate (with their insignia) and the set up then what another 20$ for the wording? so 54$ roughly.

A completely (aftermarket) blank cover was only about 7$, then the Engraving and setup fee, 20$ + 12$ + 7$ = 39$

Well, vettie...it seems we like the same stuff...PG 2  ..wow... it rocks !
and allied general, pacific general, fantasy general... GREAT GAMES ! long live SSI ,lol

Also , have you ever played Perfect General 2 ?  you will love it...it has passing fire, many many options, you never get tired of it! but ite really really old...

No.
I ran across a few other games that I really like too, West Front, East Front and The rising Sun. These (I dont remember the company, but surprisingly it was not SSI (I think built most of the best War games for PC)) were designed by the same guys that that did the Advanced Squad Leader (Avalon Hill Board game), Robert McNamara and some others. (I found a link about the games
http://www.matrixgames.com/products/318/details/John.Tiller%27s.Campaign.Series    )
It was more or less ASL brought to the PC.  They just never seemed to take off. People wanted more 'video' action and real time fighting, I guess.  I love Panzer Gen 2, I bought Panz Gen 3-D, but it was more about the graphics than the game play. I actually liked PG2 MUCH more. I played Allied general alot too, but I like PG2 the most.
I really think tho, that The Age of Rifles (also SSI) is or maybe my fav of them. It covers battles using only rifled warfare (including canons) from Napoleons are up an thru WWI. Some others beyond that, but that is the typical eras covered. It was made to be a piece of software that the USER could build their own scenarios, maps, forces and time frames. I ran across it one day sifting through some cheap games (like 5$) ans I saw the SSI logo on it. I read a little about it and bought it. Its DOS only, but man, i really like it. The style is similar to PG2, Allied General and so on but it does have animation and reaction fire or formations or hold fire or suppression fire, really cool game. When i first got it, I built a map and some forces / scenario and play it. It worked pretty easily, but you had to save anything you did to the lil floppy drives, couldnt save to hard drive.  I have since lost the floppies...
SSI really know how to build quality software. The games were good, they were fun and they were bug free. I always felt like I got my $ worth.

Vettie,i need to find this rod cover for my les paul,in order (sniff-sniff ) to sell it. I need the money...
Dont know about USA , but in Europe  ,Heritage 80 Elites are rare !  (its an 81 model ,ebony board, curly maple.Tim Shaw PAFs)
plz  can you  give me a US price? Im planning to put it around 3000-3500 e.
i Know some ppl engrave them. You know how & where? If you can make it, i'll send you the money and you send it to me?

Dont know that I have ever seen a truss rod cover like that.
I will have to do some checking.
Man i hate to hear you need to sell.
Les Paul Stds and Customs from the 80s era in good to mint condition sell from 1100$ to 3500$ depending on std or custom, finish, year, colour for that year and so on.
I will check for you and see. U just need the cover?
