polar is having major pc issues
if he makes it to comms, please help if possible
fried mobo bought new one + pwr supply + vid card = not working....
-
Specs? Mother Board name and number? Videocard name and number? Power supply name and number?
Does the power supply turn on? Does the system try to load the operating system? Bad hard drive? If he got a new Mobo and he is using the old hard drive could there be a driver issue? If the computer at least boots up what are the temps? Something may have been DOA.

I got a PM from Polar via MWO site... The only info is what I posted. The Vid Card is a 650TI I think. Prior to his machine biting dust, he mentioned on comms that he bought it. TO be able to use it he needed new Pwr Supply (dont know what specs are of what he bought) but when he went to change it out, he broke is existing mobo. So he bought new, took all to shop where it sat for a week with no workie done. he took it back and tried it himself.
I think he said the light comes on on the motherboard, but nothing else is a go. Beyond that I dont know, dont know mb, cpu, ram, hdd, pwer suply or anything other details...
I dont have his fone # either...
IF he makes it to comms, BIG IF, then maybe 1 or some of us can help him. I told him that via return PM and told him to try comms BEFORE taking to another shop. It depends on if he reads the PM before taking action and IF he can get on comms....

Well at least the light comes on :). I hope he put the CPU heat sink on properly. He might want to try taking all the hardware out of the mobo and just go with the CPU, HDD, and the RAM and see if the system will start up. Then he can add the GPU afterwards if that works. Just a thought.

among us, me with 20+ yrs building PCs, Cow prolly same amount or more, Smaga same thing plus DDay and yourself, surely we can get him running or find the issue at hand and hopefully save him some repair shop Canadian $ to boot, ay?

Aw man...
So, I bought a AMD FX(tm)-8120 Eight-Core Processor, ASUS M5 A97 R2.0 motherboard, and a 750w PSU to run er'. When I turned It all on, somehow, my video card had fried.. lame.. the dude told me he put a better video card in, got home. Installed all my drivers for everything and find out he put in an AMD Radeon HD 6450.. which apparently can't even run MWO. So that sucks, guess I'm out until I can get another card D:

I would go back to the store and demand that you get a video card of equal value you had and not some old piece of junk he claimed would be better. You had a GTX 650, a HD 6450 is definitely not an upgrade. That sounds pretty shady if you ask me. If you have the old card you might still be able to send it in and get a new one if the warranty is good.

Lusankya is right, that video card is not an equal to your old card. The equivalent ATI card would be an 6700 series or a 7700 series card. The 6450 is equal to an onboard integrated video card. And those suck in performance!!! Have them give you back your Nvidia card and send it in for warranty coverage.

ayee po po is back

I just ended up buying another GTX 650 last night on ebay before bed... will be here in a week. I'm too disgusted with that place to go back, fuck it lol
Thanks for the advice though, If the store was nearby I'd probably just take It back but It's a 45 min. drive away, and then all the way back.. no worries. I'll have my GeForce card again and will be good to go. Just have to wait a little longer.
12v12 should be out on Tuesday, yes? I'm jealous I won't be there for It's launch!
